Who we are looking for:
As a Welding Sensor Engineer , you will play a key role in developing reliable monitoring architectures, establishing data acquisition frameworks and transforming process data into actionable insights, contributing to cutting-edge advancements in industrial-scale additive manufacturing solutions.
You will contribute to advancing Caracol’s WAAM technologies, taking responsibility for sensor selection and integration, process control and real-time monitoring to enhance process stability, quality, and automation.
Few examples of responsibilities:
- Select, integrate and optimize sensors (thermal imaging, acoustic emission, laser scanning, cameras, electrical sensors) for real-time WAAM process monitoring
- Plan and execute validation runs to test sensor integration and monitoring performance
- Develop data acquisition frameworks and analyse process data to support monitoring and control strategies
- Ensure robust integration between robotic systems, controllers and monitoring hardware
- Create technical documentation and internal guidelines to support process standardization and knowledge transfer
- Contribute to internal and external training activities related to WAAM processes
- Collaborate with external partners such as research institutions and technology partners on specific projects
Ideal Background:
- Master’s degree in Automation, Electronics, Mechatronics, or similar Engineering fields
- At least 2 years of experience in data acquisition, signal processing within an industrial manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of welding processes (CMT, TIG/MIG) and the impact of process parameters on manufacturing outcomes
- Experience with process monitoring, automation or real-time control systems
- Experience with robotics or additive manufacturing is considered a strong plus, particularly within WAAM technologies
- Basic understanding of materials science or metallurgy is appreciated
- Fluency in English is mandatory
