This is not a conventional product management position centered on user feedback cycles or incremental feature iteration. This is an executive-level technical product ownership role in which you will own the architecture, technical roadmap, and AI integration across our entire learning platform. You will be accountable for navigating the difficult technical tradeoffs that keep our products lean, scalable, and relentlessly oriented toward enhancing student outcomes. What You Will Be Doing

• Cultivating and applying deep expertise in education products to inform strategic decisions
• Authoring technical specifications that establish key technical decisions and emphasize simplicity, efficiency, and sustainable architecture
• Deploying generative AI capabilities to automate and optimize engineering workflows, in alignment with the strategic objective of minimizing manual effort

• Pure people management; this role prioritizes your business insight and technical expertise
• Spending time in meetings, committees, or administrative overhead; we have automated management tasks so you can concentrate on delivering business value through direct contributions
• High-level strategy without actionable implementation; your guidance must be grounded in product-level analysis

Vice President Of Product Engineering Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the CTO for one or more education products, owning critical competencies and generating business value through flawless execution and strategic judgment

Basic Requirements

• Deep experience or genuine interest in data-driven learning science
• 7+ years of experience making critical architecture and design decisions on software projects, including the application of architecture design patterns or substantial open-source technologies
• 2+ years of experience making design decisions that involve the use of cloud computing services (primarily AWS)
• 4+ years of experience in roles with complete technical and delivery ownership of a revenue-generating product
• Experience building product features that leverage advanced Generative AI
• Experience using Generative AI to streamline work processes

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $200 USD/hour, which equates to $400,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
