Base pay range: $200.00/hr – $200.00/hr ($400,000/year).

This position demands the technical depth of a CTO, the strategic vision to lead transformational initiatives, and the commitment to apply both toward unlocking student potential at scale. 2 Hour Learning has reconstructed the school experience from first principles, leveraging AI and learning science to eliminate the limitations of traditional classrooms. Unlike a conventional product management role centered on user feedback cycles or iterative feature releases, this executive‑level technical product ownership role requires you to control the architecture, technical roadmap, and AI integration across the entire learning infrastructure. You will be accountable for the critical technical trade‑offs that keep our products streamlined, scalable, and unwaveringly oriented toward advancing student outcomes. You will operate with the mindset of a CTO while maintaining the velocity of a product entrepreneur, synthesizing engineering discipline with learning science principles to deliver continuous innovation.
What You Will Be Doing
- Building and applying comprehensive education product expertise to inform strategic direction
- Authoring technical specifications that resolve critical technical decisions and emphasize simplicity, efficiency, and sustainable design
- Deploying generative AI solutions to automate and optimize engineering workflows, supporting the organizational goal of minimizing manual effort
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Exclusively managing people; your technical and business judgment will be central to this role
- Spending time in meetings, committees, or administrative overhead; we have streamlined management processes so you can concentrate on delivering business impact through direct contribution
- Proposing high‑level strategies without actionable implementation plans; your guidance must be grounded in product‑level understanding
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the CTO for one or more education products, commanding core capabilities and generating business value through flawless execution and strategic leadership
Basic Requirements
- Substantial experience or demonstrated interest in data‑driven learning science
- 7+ years of experience driving critical architecture and design decisions on software initiatives, including the application of architecture design patterns or major open source technologies
- 2+ years of experience making design decisions that incorporate cloud computing services (primarily AWS)
- 4+ years of experience in roles with complete technical and delivery accountability for a revenue‑generating product
- Experience developing product features that leverage advanced Generative AI capabilities
- Experience applying Generative AI to streamline work processes

Working with Us
This is a full‑time (40 hours per week), long‑term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $200 USD/hour, which equates to $400,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
