Join us at Barclays as an Investment Banking Vice President in Milan, where you will play a lead role in the Coverage of Central and South Eastern Europe. In this role, you'll lead discussions with clients and coordinate with team members on research, analysis of company valuations, financial modeling, marketing materials, and transaction documentation. This is an excellent opportunity to lead origination and execution of deals across the region.

To be successful as an Investment Banking Vice President, you'll need :

  • Strong M&A and financing skills
  • First-class experience in complex financial modeling, valuation techniques, presentation preparation, due diligence, and financial analysis
  • Experience in deal origination : generating ideas, writing presentations, and handling client follow-up
  • A proven track record of executing transactions and managing stakeholder communications

Additional highly valued skills include :

  • Experience in Investment Banking Coverage at VP level
  • Polish / Czech language skills are highly beneficial
  • Strong understanding of professional ethics and regulatory environment

The position is based in our Milan, Italy office.

This role is classified as a Controlled Function under the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Regulations and may require mandatory regulatory qualifications or meeting internal company benchmarks.

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain client relationships, understand their needs and financial goals, and develop appropriate investment banking solutions.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients by understanding their business, financial goals, and industry trends.
  • Generate ideas and identify opportunities to expand the bank's client base and generate new business.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis and due diligence on client companies to assess financial health and valuation.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams on legal documentation for transactions.
  • Work with other teams (Capital Markets, Sales, Trading, Research, Risk Management) to provide comprehensive solutions.
  • Promote Energy Transition and Sustainability by engaging with clients on climate, transition strategies, and sustainable finance opportunities.
  • Contribute to strategy, drive requirements, and recommend changes. Manage resources, budgets, policies, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • If managing a team, define roles, plan for future needs, and oversee performance and pay decisions. Lead specialists, influence operations, and balance short and long-term goals.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors : Listen, Energize, Align, Develop.
  • For individual contributors, serve as a subject matter expert, guide technical direction, lead assignments, and coach less experienced staff.
  • Advise stakeholders and senior management on functional and cross-functional impacts.
