Purpose of the Position

As Vessel Equipment Engineer, you will respond to the mobile flexlay equipment manager and be part of the Assets based services within Assets and project services. You will manage and support a variable team of people ranging from 5 to 10 depending on the specific project phase.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance and control of all the flexible lay equipment including but not limited to: Carousels/baskets, Spooling tower, Loading towers, Vertical Lay System, Reel Hub Drives, Flexible lay tensioners;
• Ensure the efficiency of the flexible lay equipment;
• Prepare the appropriate maintenance plans including the management of required spare parts;
• Ensure adequate spread of flexible lay equipment knowledge among the team;
• Manage the flexible lay equipment ensuring their continuous operation through ordinary/extraordinary maintenance and repairs;
• Supervise and coordinate the Mechanic Foremen Offshore and the Mechanics Offshore to ensure that the works are carried out in compliance with safety and quality requirements;
• Assign work tasks to own team to execute maintenance activities;
• Define maintenance works priorities and prepare suitable maintenance schedule to ensure flexible equipment reliability along the project execution;
• Ensure that the required quantity of spare parts and materials are kept in stock through the establishment of minimum and maximum stock levels, to ensure work continuity and flexible lay equipment sufficiency for any planned maintenance activities and for breakdowns that can be reasonably expected;
• Be responsible for the flexible lay equipment preparation and set‑up in advance and during execution of project operations, in liaison with Flexlay equipment team, shore team, and Chief Engineer Offshore Construction Manager, offshore team;
• Ensure that all flexible lay equipment required by projects are in suitable condition and properly stored;
• Be responsible for the training of operations team mobilized, time by time, for the use of flexible lay equipment.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical fields;
• Experience: 10 years as a flexible lay equipment supervisor within the oil and gas industry with particular focus on SURF operations;
• Languages: English language required;
• Technical Skills: Advanced Mechanical and Electrical knowledge including comprehension of control system philosophy specifically applied to flexible lay equipment;
• IT Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook).
