Location: Modena (preferred) / Torino – with business trips to Napoli
Languages: Italian and English (mandatory)
Role Overview
We are looking for a Vehicle Electrical Architect to manage and validate the electrical architecture of automotive projects, ensuring full system integration and compliance with functional and technical requirements.
Starting from an already mature project (possibly already in production), the candidate will support engineering changes related to supplier substitutions or system upgrades (e.g., HVAC systems, ADAS systems, Exterior Lighting, etc.), ensuring correct electrical integration within the vehicle.
A structured Training on the Job program alongside a Senior Electrical Architect is foreseen.
Main Responsibilities
- Collect, analyze and validate the electrical complexity of vehicle systems
- Ensure compliance of electrical architecture with system functional requirements
- Analyze system input data provided directly by suppliers
- Review and compare PIN-OUT configurations of ECUs and related peripherals (sensors, actuators, control units)
- Define required wiring modifications or new electrical connections when supplier changes occur
- Perform electrical sizing calculations:
- Cable dimensioning for power supply lines
- Selection and sizing of relays and fuses
- Define electrical connectors required for system integration
- Specify terminals/pins for each individual wire when needed
- Optimize wiring harness complexity considering:
- Vehicle versions and trims
- Optional content
- Market variations
- Product configurations
- Develop electrical connection concepts and architecture logic
- Support CAD 2D drafting team (without directly producing electrical drawings)
- Validate schematics using tools such as Visio
- Use Excel extensively for complexity management, configuration matrices and data analysi
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Experience in:
- Relay and fuse sizing
- Cable dimensioning calculations
- Electrical load analysis
- Knowledge of automotive connectors and related terminals/pins
- Capability to analyze ECU pin configuration and system interfaces
- Understanding of vehicle electrical architecture complexity
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Structured and detail-oriented mindset
Tools
- Microsoft Visio (for schematic concept validation)
- Advanced Excel (mandatory – high proficiency required)
Education
Preferred: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering. Junior profiles (including recent graduates) are welcome, provided strong technical fundamentals.
