Job Description

The Special Projects Department is seeking to appoint a Security Supervisor position based at the Port Vila, Vanuatu Temple. This is a permanent full-time position reporting to the Temple Facilities Manager.

The Security Supervisor will provide an environment where patrons may have a positive and uplifting experience each time they come to the temple and maintain and operate the temple at standards established by the First Presidency.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervising all security personnel, scheduling and making personnel assignments to ensure proper security coverage
• Supervising and managing the temple security team, ensuring all security personal are trained to provide first aid in medical emergencies and all security functions
• Counselling with the Temple Facilities Manager (TFM) and recommending procedures and methods that reduce the temple's exposure to theft, vandalism, intrusion and liability issues, including the effective use of approved surveillance and alarm systems
• Completing all incident reports as required by the Church online SIR and GIR reporting systems, including communication of all security matters to the TFM and maintaining an incident log report
• Establishing and maintaining close liaison with local law enforcement and fire prevention officials, with communication procedures clearly defined for emergency situations
• Performing other duties as assigned by the TFM from time to time including travel to other sites may be required

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in law enforcement or related field plus two years’ experience in law enforcement
• Equivalent combination of relevant experience and qualifications may be considered
• Two years of supervisory experience
• Demonstrated leadership ability and training experience
• Computer literate.
• First aid and CPR qualified
• Experience in using, calibrating, and maintaining electronic alarms and surveillance equipment (highly preferred)
• Driver’s license and the ability to travel as required
• Physical and mental ability to attend to the rigors of security work (completion of medical assessment is required)
• Proof of legal right to work in Vanuatu
• A police background check may be required
