Mission

The Utilities & Power Process Engineer is responsible, within the assigned projects, for all process engineering activities related to utilities and offsite systems (such as steam, water, air, power generation, and wastewater treatment).

The role includes the development of process design documentation, technical coordination with other disciplines, and interaction with vendors and clients on open-art systems.

The level of involvement may vary depending on project complexity and phase.


Main Activities & Responsibilities

The Utilities & Power Process Engineer is responsible for:

  • Ensuring the quality of the produced documentation and compliance with project contractual requirements, within the assigned budget and schedule;
  • Developing process documentation, including mass and energy balances, process calculations, and technical specifications for utilities systems;
  • Designing and engineering utilities systems such as steam networks, water systems, air systems, power generation, and wastewater treatment units;
  • Interfacing with other engineering disciplines (e.g., piping, mechanical, electrical, civil) to ensure proper integration of process requirements;
  • Managing technical interactions with vendors for assigned packages and reviewing vendor documentation;
  • Supporting construction and commissioning phases, both from home office and on-site when required;
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of department standards, procedures, and work instructions;
  • Providing technical feedback to the Head of Department to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of engineering processes;
  • Keeping up to date with technical developments, tools, and methodologies within the discipline;
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers, contributing to team growth and knowledge sharing.


Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s degree in chemical engineering or Energy Engineering (or equivalent);
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in process engineering within EPC companies or industrial environments (oil & gas, petrochemical, energy);
  • Proven experience in utilities and offsite systems design (steam, water, air, power, wastewater treatment);
  • Experience with open-art process design (non-licensed systems);
  • Strong knowledge of mass and energy balances and process engineering fundamentals;
  • Experience in vendor package management and multidisciplinary project environments;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (core tool for calculations and process development);
  • Familiarity with PipeNet (hydraulic networks, surge analysis) and/or Thermoflow (power systems) is considered a plus;
  • Strong problem-solving attitude and ability to work starting from first principles (no fear of “blank page”);
  • Ability to interface with clients and defend technical solutions;
  • Experience working in international and distributed engineering teams;
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken;
  • Availability to travel in Italy and abroad (including collaboration with international offices such as India);
  • Team-oriented mindset, flexibility, and result-driven approach.
