Position: Trade Marketing Expert (Italy)


Position Reports to: Senior Trade & Marketing Manager – Southern Europe


Location: Milan, Italy


Industry: FMCG – Healthcare / Beauty



Role Purpose

The Trade Marketing Expert is responsible of a brand portfolio for executing brand, trade marketing and category management strategies in the Italian market, with a strong focus on collaboration with the local distributors in Mass market and pharmacy channel.


This role acts as a key interface between Brand Marketing, distributors, and field sales teams, ensuring excellent execution of 4P drivers, activations and in-store visibility to drive sell-out performance.


Key Responsibilities

Distributor & Channel Partnership (Core Focus)

  • Act as the primary Marketing partner for the Italian distributors, ensuring strong alignment on priorities, campaigns, and execution
  • Support and guide distributor sales teams with trade marketing expertise and tools
  • Co-develop and implement customer and pharmacy activation plans
  • Ensure excellent execution across the pharma/pharmacy channel and key accounts
  • Monitor distributor performance and propose corrective actions where needed


Trade Marketing & Activation

  • Develop and deploy trade marketing plans adapted to the distributor model
  • Lead in-store activations, POS materials, and visibility initiatives
  • Coordinate product & brand launches and promotional cycles (canvass) with distributors and sales teams
  • Deliver compelling sales support materials and presentations


Promotions & Commercial Excellence

  • Design and manage consumer promotions (bundles, contests, special packs)
  • Drive promotional pack creation and assortment optimization in collaboration with distributor
  • Ensure strong ROI and execution quality of all trade initiatives


Market Insights & Performance

  • Track sell-in / sell-out performance and market data
  • Conduct store checks, distributor reviews, and competitor analysis
  • Provide actionable insights to optimize trade strategy and activation plans


Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Marketing, eCommerce, Sales, Supply Chain, Business Analyst, Finance, and external agencies
  • Partner with distributor on forecasting and demand planning inputs
  • Coordinate with regional teams to ensure consistency with EMEA strategy


AI & Digital Enablement

  • Continuously explore opportunities to improve efficiency and impact through automation and AI-supported decision-making


Operational Excellence

  • Manage product coding, POS materials, promotions
  • Oversee supplier coordination (agencies, POS materials, packaging)
  • Ensure timely execution and delivery of all trade activities


Candidate Profile

Experience

  • 4–6 years in Trade Marketing / Marketing / Sales within FMCG
  • Experience working with distributors or indirect sales models is highly preferred
  • Background in healthcare, beauty, or pharmacy channel is a strong advantage


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong commercial acumen and customer focus
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence externally (distributors)
  • Excellent execution and project management skills
  • Analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making
  • Agility, ownership, and hands-on approach
  • Digital curiosity and interest in AI-driven tools and solutions


Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field
