Offer Description
Title N° 1 : The research aims to define metrics to characterize the performance of quantum networks and to develop a software framework that dynamically adapts the execution of distributed quantum applications to network conditions. The proposed solutions will be integrated and validated through quantum network simulators and/or experimental quantum networking platforms. The objective is to develop a software framework for optimizing entanglement utilization and quantum circuit performance, supported by adaptive scheduling and execution algorithms for distributed quantum applications, and validated in both simulated and real-world environments. Secondment periods are planned at the project partner institutions (e.g. VSB, ICHEC).
Title N° 2 : The research aims to define and organize the fundamental functionalities of quantum communication into modular, programmable components and to develop interfaces and models for simulators and experimental platforms. Activities will include protocol performance evaluation and scalability analysis across different application scenarios. The objective is to develop a software framework for the structured design of the Quantum Internet, identify performance metrics for protocol evaluation, and define use cases based on multipartite entanglement for applications such as quantum conferencing and distributed quantum computing. Secondment periods are planned at the project partner institutions (e.g. SETU, TIM S.p.A.) .

- Ability to conduct research in an academic or commercial environment.
- Flexibility to travel and engage fully in academic and non-academic secondments abroad.
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
- the candidate must not hold a PhD qualification at the date of recruitment;
- the candidate must comply with the MSCA mobility rule, i.e. must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Italy for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately preceding the date of commencement of the employment contract;
- the candidate will be required to enrol in a PhD Programme at the University of Naples Federico II at the same time as recruitment, and to attend it successfully for the entire duration of the contract.
