Overview

In the frame of Satellite & Mission Department, SITAEL is looking for an experienced/senior Satellite Thermo-mechanical Architect, with mid-level experience (>5 years) in Space Engineering, preferably at system-subsystem level.
The Satellite Thermo-Mechanical Architect will act as a key reference person for the Thermo Mechanical design at subsystem level, with focus on the architecture and budgets, technical development of satellite structures and Thermal control system, working with multi-disciplinary teams.
After the design phase, the role may serve as the technical reference for hardware procurement and for integration and verification of the TS subsystem. He/she will also support test phases (Vibrational, acoustic, TVAC) by defining test specifications and reviewing test reports.
The Satellite Thermo-Mechanical Architect will report directly to the Thermo-structure S/S Team Leader.
Responsibilities
- Technical coordination of Thermo-structure S/S engineering activities
- Thermo-structure S/S specification preparation and management
- Definition of satellite thermo-mechanical architecture (structural concept, main internal and external mechanical interfaces, thermal control solutions)
- Definition of environmental specification for the equipment, payload and appendages
- Thermo-structure S/S design activities (structural design, thermal & mechanical interface requirements definition, main interfaces sizing, LV compatibility, thermal control design and HW selection, mechanical and thermal analysis follow-up and validation)
- Technical follow-up of satellite structure and thermal HW procurement
- Thermo-structure AIV (assembly, integration & verification), including STM/PFM qualification and FM satellite acceptance
- Participation in technical reviews, meetings and progress reports with the customer
Technical skills / Requirements
- Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (5+ years) Master Degree
- At least 5 years of experience in Space Thermal/Mechanical Engineering, preferably at system level
- Advanced knowledge of satellite-level thermo-structure architecture and its components
- Good knowledge of Satellite Design and its subsystems/functions
- Good/basic knowledge of Space Mission Design & Analysis
- Capability of performing technical coordination
- Good knowledge of satellite lifecycle and Systems Engineering methods and tools (requirements management, tradeoff studies, SysML)
- Experience in mechanical FEM analysis using Nastran (or similar) or in thermal Analysis using ESATAN TMS (or similar)
- Good knowledge of ECSS standards
- Very good knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio, DOORS, Matlab/Simulink, Nastran/Femap
- Very good knowledge of English
