Prototyping and Testing within Baker Hughes’ Industrial & Energy Technology (IET) organization plays a critical role in validating new technologies and ensuring products meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance. As part of the Technology Testing Lab (TTL), the Test Bench Leader acts as the focal point for internal test benches—working closely with design teams, innovation labs, partner suppliers, universities, and external research institutions to deliver robust validation campaigns. This role is central to translating innovation into proven, industrialized solutions.
As a Test Bench Leader, you will take full ownership of prototype testing and test bench activities, from early design involvement through installation, commissioning, and validation. You will be the HSE and quality reference for the test bench, ensuring compliance with IET standards while driving continuous improvement. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage contractors, and standardize processes—playing a pivotal role in accelerating technology readiness and strengthening Baker Hughes’ testing excellence across global locations.
As a Test Bench Leader, you will be responsible for:
- Leading test bench activities by contributing to test‑solution design from early specification through all design phases (CDR, DDR, RFR).
- Ensuring readiness for prototype installation and testing by developing work instructions and securing tools, instrumentation, and resources on time.
- Supporting design and erection phases to guarantee compliance with applicable HSE standards and IET best practices.
- Coordinating test bench erection, commissioning, and full equipment validation in close collaboration with Prototyping & Testing technical leaders.
- Owning quality and HSE activities, including NCR/RCA/CA management, audits, investigations, preventive and corrective maintenance, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Driving standardization and digitalization by improving machining, assembly, and metrology processes, maintaining test‑bench databases, and managing contractor activities.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience in testing environments).
- Have solid experience in turbomachinery testing and validation technologies.
- Have strong expertise in HSE practices, with the ability to act as test‑bench safety reference.
- Have proven leadership experience in test bench or similar experimental environments (Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus).
- Have good understanding of machining and assembly methods combined with IET product knowledge.
- Have strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, with the flexibility to work abroad when required.
