Descrizione dell'offerta

La posizione è aperta all’interno del team di Leonardo.**Job Description:**Leonardo is an international industrial group, among the world's leading companies in Aerospace, Defense, and Security, which creates multi-domain technological capabilities in Helicopters, Aircraft, Aerostructures, Electronics, Cyber Security, and Space. With over 60,000 employees worldwide, the company has a solid industrial presence in Italy, the United Kingdom, Poland, the United States, and operates in 150 countries also through subsidiaries, joint ventures, and shareholdings. A protagonist in major global strategic programs, it is a technological and industrial partner of Governments, Defense Administrations, Institutions, and businesses. In 2024, Leonardo recorded consolidated revenues of €17.8 billion, new orders for €20.9 billion, and invested €2.5 billion in R&D activities. Innovation, continuous research, digital industry, and sustainability are the pillars of its business worldwide.Experienced tutors in their field will guide you, allowing you to deepen the theoretical part and develop your thesis, preparing you best for future professional challenges.The topics proposed for theses to be developed at Leonardo cover a vast spectrum of technological, research, and innovation areas: from Artificial Intelligence to High-Performance Computing, from Cyber Security to Materials Engineering, passing through aerospace sectors. You will be able to explore the most cutting-edge areas of your field of study, with creativity and a spirit of innovation.To support you during this experience, which will last a maximum of six months, an expense reimbursement is also provided.We are looking for 1 young student to be placed in an internship with the aim of developing their thesis on the topic of **Aircraft Ground handling** at the Pomigliano d'Arco site.The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the interaction between landing gear geometry, wheel/tire attitude, and the dynamic behavior of a high-performance aircraft during taxiing, takeoff, and landing phases.The objective of the work is to analyze, through appropriate simulation models, how the landing gear geometry and tire attitude modify the contact forces with the runway and, consequently, the directional stability, the aircraft's attitude response, and the directional control and braking performance of the aircraft.The candidate will be part of the Landing Gear Systems team of Leonardo Aircraft Division and will carry out numerical thesis activity aimed at studying the influence of toe and camber angles of the landing gear on the lateral-directional and longitudinal dynamics of the aircraft during taxiing, takeoff, and landing phases.The planned activities are as follows:* Creation of the simulation model of the reference aircraft. The modeling will deal in more detail with aspects related to landing gear kinematics, wheel and tire attitude, and their interaction with the runway, in a Matlab/Simulink environment;
* Evaluation of the impact on directional controllability, stability, braking performance, lateral loads as a function of variations in tire attitudes (camber and toe) together with crosswind conditions, non-uniform runway friction (wet/dry);
* Support in identifying acceptable variability ranges for camber and toe.**Educational Qualification:** Master's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Automation Engineering.**Seniority:** Junior**Technical knowledge and skills:*** Basic knowledge of modeling complex mechanical systems;
**Behavioral skills:*** Proactivity;
* Ability to work in ateam;
* Learning orientation;
* Flexibility;
* Communication;
* Result orientation.**Language skills:*** Good knowledge of written and spoken English, B2/C1 level.**IT knowledge:*** Good knowledge of the Office package;
* Good knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink, in particular the Simscape toolbox for multibody modeling.**How does the selection process work?**Following the collection of applications, CVs that are most in line with the required qualifications are evaluated and identified.Selected candidates undergo an introductory interview with the Human Resources team and with the Business, where technical issues, motivation, and personal aptitudes will be explored.At the end of the process, feedback is provided to the person, both in case of a positive or negative outcome.**We look forward to your application**.*By collaborating with us, you will constantly face the challenges of high technology, increase your skills, and build a professional path of excellence.***Seniority:** Junior**Primary Location:** IT - Napoli - Pomigliano**Contract Type:****Hybrid Working:** In loco
