Telecom Engineer
Position Summary
The Telecom Engineer designs, integrates, and supports telecommunications systems for oil and gas facilities. You will ensure all voice, data, safety, and operational systems meet technical and regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Engineering: Review and approve architectures for LAN/WAN, PAGA, CCTV, radio, and fibre optic systems.
- Coordination: Align telecom requirements with DCS, SCADA, and safety systems (F&G, HVAC).
- Compliance: Ensure designs adhere to international standards (IEC, ISO, API) and cybersecurity protocols, specifically for hazardous areas.
- Procurement: Prepare Material Requisitions and conduct Technical Bid Evaluations.
- Testing & Commissioning: Lead Factory and Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT) and supervise onsite installation and troubleshooting.
- Operations: Support system upgrades and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams and IP allocations.
Qualifications
- Education: BSc in Automation & Control Engineering from an accredited university.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of post-degree experience in the discipline.
- Skills: Proficiency in IP networking, radio frequency planning, and telecom simulation tools.
- Communication: Excellent written and spoken English with a proven ability to draft technical specifications.
