Technical Director – Renewable Energy (Italy)
Leap29 is supporting a renewable energy platform backed by an established British energy group, with several operating entities across the Italian market focused on developing, building and operating renewable energy assets.
The platform is entering an active delivery phase, with projects moving from Ready-to-Build through to construction and grid connection, including around 20MW of new solar assets and over €10M in investment linked to network expansion.
The group is now looking to appoint a Technical Director to provide technical leadership across multiple companies and projects in Italy, supporting the delivery of RTB assets, new developments and private network infrastructure through to COD and grid connection.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of renewable energy projects from RTB through to COD, including procurement, engineering and construction activities
- Oversee grid infrastructure design, procurement and construction for projects within the portfolio
- Support the implementation of new grid business models in Italy, including private network structures
- Provide technical input to financial models, particularly around procurement, construction and O&M assumptions
- Review and validate engineering designs produced by external owner’s engineers and technical advisors
- Negotiate, manage and monitor EPC and equipment supplier contracts
- Supervise Owner’s Engineering and construction works on site
- Ensure full EHS compliance across all phases of project delivery
- Support risk management activities across the project portfolio
- Contribute to the delivery of new solar assets and BESS projects currently under development
Requirements
Must have
- Master’s degree in Engineering
- 10–15 years’ experience within renewable energy or grid infrastructure
- Experience gained within developer, EPC, IPP/utility or technical consultancy environments
- Background covering engineering/design, procurement and construction supervision
- Fluent Italian and English (written and spoken)
- Availability for travel within Italy and abroad, including time spent on site during construction
Preferred
- Experience across multiple industry environments (e.g. EPC and developer/utility)
- Good understanding of Italian EHS requirements
