Technical Director

Officine MotoBici / OM Reparto Corse · Italia ·

Descrizione dell'offerta

Officine Motobici is an Italian motorsport manufacturer developing a purpose-built single-cylinder competition motorcycle for world championship motocross. Incorporated in Emilia-Romagna and operating from the heart of Motor Valley, the company is funded, has an established engineering supply chain, and is executing a confirmed development programme with specialist partners across powertrain simulation, combustion CFD, prototype manufacture, and dynamometer testing.

The Technical Director is being recruited at the programme's most critical juncture — Phase 1 design and competitive analysis. This is a founding leadership role. The TD shapes the engineering culture, technical architecture, and competitive DNA of a motorcycle being built from first principles in the world's most storied motorsport engineering corridor.

Responsibilities

— Design authority across engine, chassis, and control systems R&D programmes

— Central coordination of the engine design programme, managing multiple external specialist partners while maintaining 100% IP ownership at Officine Motobici

— Technical specification derivation from competitor analysis programme: teardown, 3D scanning, suspension dynamometry, and on-track data acquisition

— Factory and customer motorcycle design direction — ensuring identical factory-specification hardware across the OM Reparto Corse factory team and all customer programmes

— Leadership and mentoring of the in-house design team, recruited from the MUNER/ISSAM and UniMoRe DIEF academic network

— Total project management: milestone delivery, supplier selection, budget oversight, and programme risk management across all engineering workstreams

Required Experience

— Championship-level motorsport powertrain or chassis development experience — MXGP, MotoGP, WorldSBK, WRC, WEC, F1, or national championship backgrounds all considered

— Minimum 10 years in senior technical, race engineering, or programme engineering roles

— Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and coordinating external specialist partners simultaneously

— Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent parametric CAD platform; FEA simulation experience (SIMULIA, Ansys, or equivalent)

— Experience with ECU calibration, engine management systems, data acquisition platforms, and dynamometer testing programmes

— Strong project management discipline: milestone planning, risk registers, budget tracking, and supplier negotiation

— Italian language preferred; English essential

Note on Discipline Transfer

Candidates from road racing, rally, endurance, or single-seater backgrounds are actively encouraged to apply. Discipline-specific motocross experience is not a prerequisite. Engineering excellence and championship-level programme management discipline are the primary qualifications.
