System Administrator / Workplace IT
We are partnering with a leading international organization in the Financial Services/CIB sector to recruit a highly skilled System Administrator / Workplace IT Specialist for its Italian branch.
This role is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in structured, regulated environments and who is comfortable managing end‑to‑end IT operations with a high degree of autonomy.
The selected candidate will join a lean and highly competent local IT team and collaborate daily with regional and global technology groups. This position plays a key role in ensuring business continuity, strengthening the technical infrastructure, and supporting ongoing transformation and security initiatives.
Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Systems Administration
- Manage, maintain, and optimize Windows Server and Windows 11 client environments including Group Policies, security hardening, patch management, system upgrades, and OS image deployment.
- Oversee and administer the VMware ESXi/vCenter virtualization platform, ensuring high availability, performance, and optimized resource allocation.
- Maintain and support the full backup and recovery ecosystem using Veeam , including tape, NAS, retention policies, and restoration procedures.
- Administer core infrastructure services including Active Directory , DNS, DHCP, IIS, SQL, and domain controller operations.
Network Management
- Support the maintenance and configuration of the network environment, including firewalls, routers, and switches, in alignment with global security standards.
- Monitor network performance and availability using enterprise tools (e.g., PRTG ).
- Coordinate with external service providers for troubleshooting, upgrades, and scheduled activities.
- Ensure proper cabling, patching, and hardware installation in local data rooms.
Workplace & End‑User Services
- Provide senior-level support on daily issues involving Windows clients , peripherals, corporate applications, and security tools.
- Manage the local Citrix environment from a client perspective, coordinating with central teams for platform-level issues.
- Support workplace technologies including printers, mobile devices (iOS/Android), and the Cisco IP telephony system.
- Ensure rigorous documentation of configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions.
Core Banking Operations Support
- Perform daily operational tasks on AS400/iSeries systems to ensure smooth execution of the branch’s business‑critical processes.
- Monitor scheduled jobs, error logs, and system alerts to prevent disruptions.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to infrastructure improvement initiatives, security enhancement programs, and technology upgrades driven by regional or global IT teams.
- Participate in audits, compliance checks, and periodic security assessments.
- Act as a technical reference point for the junior system administrator within the team.
Requirements
- 7–8 years of experience in IT roles within structured environments; exposure to banking/financial services is a strong advantage.
- Advanced technical knowledge of Windows Server, Windows 11, VMware, networking, backup & recovery, and security best practices.
- Strong familiarity with enterprise platforms such as Active Directory, Citrix, and Office 365/Azure AD.
- Excellent troubleshooting capabilities and strong ownership of local IT operations.
- High level of accuracy, reliability, and organizational skills; ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Fluent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
Compensation : €55K–€65K RAL
