CKH IOD forms part of the telecommunications division of CK Hutchison Holdings Limited (CKHH) – a group of operating companies across Europe and Hong Kong (collectively CK Hutchison Group Telecoms or CKHGT) as well as Sri Lanka. CKH IOD leads an overarching sustainability strategy for the telecommunications division overall and drives collaboration between operating companies, while supporting individual strategies and approaches developed within operating companies as appropriate for their markets.
Key Purpose of Role:
Manage reporting under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) including aspects related to sustainability data management systems, processes and collection. This role may include other aspects of sustainability management, particularly with respect to other reporting and disclosures, as required according to the needs of CKHH and CKHGT. This role has a focus on CSRD implementation for the telecoms division but will include involvement with other divisions where required.
Key Responsibilities / Tasks:
- Advise on and deliver the programme to report according to the requirements of the CSRD including development and implementation of a project plan, creation of a reporting manual with detailed disclosure requirements and definitions, development and documentation of consolidation and reporting processes, and drafting of reports. This specifically relates to the reports of the Telecoms division and another compliance report.
- Engage with operating companies on disclosure and data requirements, as well as process and documentation requirements to support assurance-readiness.
- Collaborate with the Head of Finance - Sustainability, and CKHH sustainability and IT staff as needed on set-up, enhancements and use of the existing sustainability data management system and any future systems.
- Collaborate with Head of Finance – Sustainability on EU Taxonomy activities analysis and documentation, to structure data collection requirements and support assurance-readiness.
- Proactively identify and implement opportunities for greater automation and efficiency, including through use or artificial intelligence where feasible and appropriate.
- Liaise with sustainability reporting representatives in other CK Hutchison divisions (ports, retail) as well as CKHH head office to support consistency of approaches across the Group, and collaborate directly on report preparation where needed.
- Provide input and insights on compliance requirements of the CSRD, requirements of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and EU Taxonomy, and expectations of sustainability assurance providers, as appropriate during ongoing reporting activities and leveraging any relevant knowledge and experience.
- Manage and input to other voluntary reporting, disclosures and compliance reports, according to the requirements of the CK Hutchison Group.
- Act as a key contact for parent CKHH for supporting parent company disclosures, answering questions etc.
- Collaborating with the Head of Finance – Sustainability and the Sustainability Manager on all aspects of data management and reporting as required, reporting to the Group Head of Sustainability, Europe and Telecoms.
- Supporting on other sustainability-related activities across the telecoms division as directed by the Group Head of Sustainability, Europe and Telecoms, according to the needs of the Group as they evolve over time.
Experience & Expertise:
- Experience in the sustainability field, either in-house or in a professional services environment.
- Ideally experience within a ‘wave 1’ company that has already implemented CSRD, or with a key role in providing assurance to such a company.
- Understanding and experience of reporting according to key sustainability disclosure frameworks and regulatory developments including CSRD, ESRS and the EU Taxonomy.
- Very comfortable with data collection, management and analysis methods including through Excel and ideally with exposure to one or more dedicated sustainability management systems.
- Experienced in developing new processes, and an understanding of the importance of process controls and documentation to support assurance-readiness.
- Ideally a Masters degree in a sustainability-related subject.
- Skilled in written communication in a business context, ideally with experience in writing external corporate reports.
- Experience and enjoyment of engaging with a diverse group of internal stakeholders to understand, influence and / or collaborate.
Skills & Approach:
- Highly collaborative.
- Use initiative and a self-starter; also open to seeking guidance regularly and knowing when to raise issues.
- Extremely comfortable with large data sets with varying degrees of structure and quality.
- Organised, ability to track multiple workstreams, activities and responsibilities, deliver according to timeline, and raise issues as required.
- Strong knowledge of the CSRD, ESRS and the EU Taxonomy.
- Ideally a basic understanding of AI and interest in applying that to sustainability reporting processes.
- An eye for detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills; articulate, ability to develop strong and trusted stakeholder relationships.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to get complex messages across clearly and concisely.
- Good business-writing skills.
