SUPPLY CHAIN FIELD ENGINEER


Starting date : ASAP

Duration : 6 months with possible extensions

Location : Foligno, Perugia

Collaboration : freelance

4 days on site and 1 day remotely

  1. - OBJECTS EXPECTED FROM THE SERVICE

The service needs to ensure daily visibility and proactive follow-up on critical parts, production WIP, delivery commitments, and subcontractor logistics to support operational needs and secure planning reliability.


  1. – FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION OF THE NEED

Key Responsibilities:


  1. Current Situation Overview
  2. Inventory Assessment: Review of stock levels for identified components, including standard parts, raw materials, and forgings.
  3. Work in Progress (WIP): Status of ongoing production items such as cylinders and rods.
  4. Supply Chain Constraints: Identification of blocking points impacting material flow and delivery schedules.
  5. Parallel Topics: Additional considerations related to industrialization, quality assurance, and procurement activities.
  6. Observation and analysis of the company’s organization and demand management


  1. Recurrent activities

Based on the overview, the customer and the service provider will agree on the key activities among:


  1. Identify part shortages at the customer and its Tier 1 suppliers
  2. Track availability and status of pacing items (piece parts) that block production
  3. Confirm stock levels and WIP status (CONWIP/waterfall) for these items
  4. Help managing priorities between the customer's Tier 1 & Tier 2 suppliers
  5. Monitor subcontractors’ parts movement (tracker), close follow up on shipment dates, ensure timely activities (inspection etc)
  6. Contribute to expediting work orders internally & externally to mitigate risk of impact to SLS
  7. Follow actions to reduce the impact of part shortages
  8. Root cause analysis of any delays
  9. Leadtime analysis and improvement actions at process
  10. Load & Capacity analysis to understand bottleneck and work out actions together with suppliers & delivery adherence
  11. Customer orderbook alignment to supplier workorder/ERP
  12. Carry out actions to reduce the risk of raw material shortages
  13. Guarantee coverage of the raw material & forging needs of the customer sites and the customer’s Tier 1 suppliers
  14. Analyze the order books of material manufacturers and distributors. Identify discrepancies between requested and acknowledged dates
  15. Analyze the root causes of delays, implement corrective and preventive action plans.
  16. Ensure a continuous communication loop with the customer plants, by preparing and participating in progress reviews between Tier1 & the customer

Requirements:

The service provider will need to have a strong knowledge of supply chain management. He/she will have a good sensitivity to the technical and industrial environment in which he will operate.

The service provider must have general knowledge of project management, production management and cross-functional management.

He or she must have a strong sense of communication and a perfect command of Italian and English.

The contributor(s) must provide proof of more than 3 years' industrial experience with knowledge of:

  • Production Management (PIC/PDP; MRP2; CBN...).
  • Continuous Improvement management (KAIZEN, DMAIC, Quality wall implementation, 8D animation, 5 why, Ishikawa, ...).
  • Project management (APQP type) and collaborative work (cross-functional team)
  • Knowledge of the Aircraft Quality System (EN9100) and supply chain performance measurements (OTD, OQD, DV, BOAA, cf. QUALIFAS)

The expected outcomes are:

  1. Improved visibility and control over critical parts deliveries
  2. Reduced delays and better anticipation of supply chain risks
  3. Strengthened collaboration between the customer, the Tier1, and the rest of subcontractors
