We are seeking an exceptional Supervisor, Training Compliance, to fill this role based in our Naples, Italy office. The Supervisor of Training & Compliance (T&C) is responsible for overseeing STCW and GHESS maritime compliance, as well as deck and technical competence training for Princess. This role ensures that the fleet is sailing in full compliance with Flag and STCW requirements, maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency. The Manager T&C also manages and advises on the maritime training budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support training initiatives. Additionally, this role involves partnering with accredited maritime institutions worldwide to ensure that crew members receive training at a high standard level, keeping them well-prepared for their duties. The Manager T&C stays informed about changes in regulations and industry best practices, continuously improving training programs to meet evolving needs and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordination of officer and crew training regarding GHESS and Deck and Engine skills training.
  • This includes managing the process to have the training delivered as well as reporting into the systems of record.
  • This also includes communications to Employees, GTP’s and vessels to ensure team members are aware of their training requirements and all individuals are compliant.
  • Review GHESS policies as well as STCW 2010 to ensure compliance with Flag and Company requirements and the appropriate learning experiences are being delivered and recorded and is responsible for maintaining the training matrix, ensuring it is up-to-date and aligned with our emergency response plan, as well as flag and international requirements.
  • Support all Princess Cruises vessels by addressing daily queries related to GHESS, STCW and D&T skills training.
  • Liaise between Port Operations, Subject Matter Experts, and the fleet to ensure effective communication and resolution of training issues.
  • Work with our external partners, learning vendors, or internal developers on the creation and maintenance of learning experiences and assets used to comply with current GHESS requirements.
  • Stay informed about all international regulations on crewing requirements, including standards from the IMO and ILO, and guidelines from Flag Administrations.
  • This involves tracking updates to conventions like the STCW and MLC and understanding regulations affecting crewing practices.
  • Ensure compliance with global and standards to promote the safety, security, and well-being of crew members.
  • Ensure the fleet sails in full compliance with Flag and STCW requirements, maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain an up-to-date training matrix, supporting the fleet's preparedness for emergency response and compliance with global standards.
  • Promote the safety, security, and well-being of crew members by staying informed about international regulations and crewing requirements.
  • Lead and support a team of training specialists responsible for training administration. Provide clear direction, set priorities, and ensure smooth coordination of tasks. Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment by coaching team members, monitoring performance, and encouraging continuous improvement in training operations.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies or related field Or Certificate of Competence.
  • Minimum of 5 years in maritime training and compliance, with a proven track record in managing training programs and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of STCW 2010 and ISM, excellent communication and leadership abilities, and proficiency in training management systems.
  • Minimum of 5 years managing maritime training programs and ensuring compliance with international regulations (e.g., STCW, GHESS), onboard experience as deck or technical officer is crucial.
  • In-depth understanding of STCW 2010, GHESS, and other relevant maritime standards and regulations.
  • Proven experience in leading teams, coordinating with external partners, and effectively communicating with diverse stakeholders.
