Responsibilities
- Undertaking mechanical engineering activities from initial customer requirements and developing them into design specifications, verifying the design and then converting them into manufacturing specifications and operating specifications.
- Identifying, assessing and taking actions to mitigate risks to people, plant and the environment arising from engineering activities. Lessons learned are communicated and reflected in the design.
- Ensuring all necessary engineering deliverables are identified to satisfy contractual and third‑party requirements; interpreting customer and regulatory requirements, assessing factors that affect engineering outcomes and defining deliverables.
- Establishing the planning process through to the development of a schedule & prioritisation for all assigned engineering duties & activities.
- Ensuring that assigned work is executed according to the necessary standards and schedule within the budget.
- Ensuring that engineering activities are implemented from initial definition of customer requirements through to final handover to the client. This includes:
- Monitoring, coordinating and controlling activities.
- Complying with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinating, controlling and communicating costs.
- Ensuring health, safety and environmental risk control is paramount.
- Ensuring quality and quality plans are maintained.
- Controlling handover and close‑out of the work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Design Engineering and engineering experience gained in an Oil and Gas, Energy, Industrial or renewable environment.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to articulate technical information in a clear, concise manner in English.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve issues quickly in a fast‑moving environment.
- Motivated self‑starter, proactively taking initiative to lead and solve problems.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing ANSI Y14.5M (GD&T).
- Experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Proficiency using MS Office applications, MathCad, AutoCAD, Creo/ProE/3D software and TeamCenter.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME).
- Understanding of general material types, coating types, welding, manufacturing techniques, corrosion protection and NDE.
- Capacity to handle multiple tasks and work under high pressure environments.
