Position Overview: The Subsea Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering coordination, and technical assurance of subsea systems associated with offshore wellhead platforms (WHPs) and subsea pipeline/tie - back schemes. This includes responsibility for the wellhead, Christmas Tree systems, manifolds, jumpers, umbilicals, risers, and related subsea control systems. The role covers all project phases from conceptual design to offshore installation, commissioning and handover, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate all subsea engineering activities related to wellhead platform tie - ins, subsea pipelines, manifolds, and Christmas Tree assemblies.
• Review and approve design deliverables such as P&IDs, SLDs, interface drawings, 3D models, and installation procedures from EPC contractors.
• Develop and maintain subsea system specifications, datasheets, and material requisitions for trees, manifolds, jumpers, umbilicals, and control systems.
• Coordinate with drilling, production, and facilities teams to define subsea interface points and operational requirements.
• Review design calculations for flow assurance, structural integrity, fatigue, and hydrodynamic analyses of subsea components.
• Ensure subsea designs comply with API, ISO, and DNV standards and meet project - specific performance and safety criteria.
• Participate in design reviews (HYSYS, HAZID, HAZOP, FAT, SIT, EFAT) and ensure follow - up of actions to closure.
• Review and approve vendor documentation for Christmas Tree assemblies, connectors, control modules, and umbilical termination assemblies.
• Ensure integration between subsea control systems and topside control/SCADA systems via the umbilical interface.
• Oversee fabrication, assembly, and testing of subsea components including FAT, SIT and pre deployment inspections.
• Provide engineering support during offshore installation, hook - up, and commissioning phases, including troubleshooting of subsea systems.
• Ensure all subsea equipment and installation methodologies meet HSE, reliability, and operability requirements.
• Coordinate subsea tie - in and hydrotesting operations with pipeline, installation and commissioning teams.
• Support preparation of as - built documentation and final system handover to Operations.
• Act as the main technical interface between the Operator/PMC and EPC Contractor for all subsea engineering issues.
Technical Competencies
• Strong understanding of subsea wellhead systems, vertical and horizontal Christmas Trees, and associated control systems.
• Knowledge of subsea pipeline and tie - in systems, including jumpers, manifolds, PLETs, and umbilical terminations.
• Experience in system integration and interface management between subsea and topside facilities.
• Proficiency in flow assurance analysis, subsea hydraulics, and control logic verification.
• Knowledge of subsea installation vessels, ROV operations, and subsea tooling requirements.
• Experience in corrosion protection (CP design), coating, and insulation systems for subsea assets.
• Familiarity with subsea design software such as PIPESIM, ANSYS, OrcaFlex, or equivalent.
• Understanding of subsea leak detection systems and integrity management philosophies.
