Student Success Advisor – Florence (Temporary)
Student Success Advisors at Verto Education work to create an inclusive environment that champions academic success and promotes Verto’s core values of compassion, transformation, vulnerability and responsibility. They provide comprehensive support to Vertoans, cultivating mentor relationships for approximately 30–35 students within assigned Care Teams. The role supports students academically and personally, collaborates with academic and post‑Verto planning staff, and plays a major role in advancing a culture of continuous improvement.
What You’ll Be Doing
Student Success
- Actively monitor students’ academic engagement and support development of academic success habits and skills.
- Provide general, first‑response academic support to students and support resolution or escalation of academic concerns, implementing interventions as appropriate.
- Monitor student academic accommodations and help students faculty for resources.
- Monitor the academic achievement and class attendance of assigned students. Make care‑and‑concern interventions when appropriate.
- Escalate students who are in danger of losing channel eligibility or are in need of additional support services.
- Engage in the process of Add/Drop and Course Withdrawals and provide guidance to students, including navigation within MyVerto, Canvas, and Cengage.
- Be familiar with and help to uphold the on‑site application of the main Verto Academic Success Policies and advise students accordingly (Attendance policy, Academic Integrity, Academic Actions, Academic Accommodations, Grading policy).
- Guide students in their academic pursuits and future post‑Verto planning.
- Answer first‑level questions regarding a student post‑Verto plan (channel requirements outlined in the MyVerto portal, supporting traditional students with draft plans).
- Review and understand course transfer requirements for any assigned channel students.
- Plan and implement active and passive programs that align with the Verto Discovery programming model.
- Assess students’ programmatic needs and address them accordingly.
- Collaborate with Verto Headquarters.
Community Building and Communication
- Create and maintain a student‑centered environment when working in the office by interacting regularly with students and guests.
- Collaborate with the onsite team to implement the Verto Discovery Programming Model.
- Lead a once‑a‑month Care Team dinner/meal for your assigned group.
- Implement the Verto Discovery programming model and all applicable requirements of the model (i.e. lead Care Team circles in the first weeks of the program).
- Promote student leaders when possible to increase student engagement on‑site.
- Support Student‑Led Club programs and initiatives.
- Educate students on Verto policies and procedures, including safety and security guidelines, Code of Responsibility, and Academic Actions.
- Be visible, available, and approachable in the community through holding regular office hours, events and meetings with students, and by being available during working hours in the Study Center.
- Foster an inclusive community environment.
- Create and maintain positive working relationships across the organization through regular attendance and communication at global meetings.
- Preserve the confidentiality of personal information about students and staff obtained in the course of employment.
Administration
- Prepare, attend, and participate in all meetings (staff, committees, 1:1s, trainings, etc.).
- Manage time, including attendance and timeliness for meetings, availability in the study center, and presence in the community.
- Use Verto Education systems (Salesforce, Google, Canvas, Qwickly, Dropout Detective, Cengage, etc.) proficiently and appropriately.
- Submit reports and paperwork on time and complete projects thoroughly.
- Monitor student academic progress, update records, and follow through on necessary academic actions and related reporting.
- Conduct health and safety inspections and student well‑being checks, as directed by supervisor or duty staff.
- Complete three required 1:1 meetings with each of your assigned Care Team members during the semester.
- Exercise effective and ethical decision‑making skills.
Duty and Crisis
- Serve in an on‑call emergency phone rotation that observes, addresses, and responds to the needs of the community.
- Respond to emergencies in accordance with protocol and procedures, which may take place after hours.
- Support the Student Success Manager, Assistant Academic Director, Assistant Director of Student Success and Program Director in addressing behaviors in violation of Verto Education policy.
- Foster a sense of community by encouraging students to respect the rights of others and empowering them to address issues in the community (roommate disagreements, conducive environment for sleep/study, difficult discussions in classroom setting).
- Make appropriate referrals to other resources when necessary (counseling, tutoring support, medical practitioners).
- Write incident reports in a timely manner that are clear, concise, accurate, and appropriately detailed.
- Follow up with students who are in crisis and/or have been confronted for policy violations.
What We’re Looking For
- Working proficiency in English and Italian languages.
- 1–3 years of experience in a student‑facing position involving university students or young adults.
- BA/BS from an accredited college or university.
- Experience working in a mentorship capacity.
- Ability to work on‑site in an office environment.
- Effective communication with the ability to show empathy and compassion.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Confident with Google Workspace / Microsoft Office (Excel, reporting, docs).
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly.
Benefits
Tempo Determinato contract, regulated CCNL Terziario Commercio. 8 euro per working day EDENREN Buoni Pasto.

The candidate must have appropriate citizenship or work authorization (Student visa not allowed) in place before the contract starts. Your status must allow you to work full time on an Italian contract. Verto Education does not sponsor visas. Candidates holding a permit “per attesa occupazione” may apply.
