Staff Accountant – Freight Brokerage (Full-Time)
Location: Milan, IT
Department: Accounting & Finance
Reports To: Controller / CFO
About the Role
We’re looking for a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of a fast‑paced freight brokerage. This role handles daily accounting tasks, high‑volume transactional data, and cross‑department collaboration to keep our financials accurate and our operations running smoothly.
What You’ll Do
- Process and audit customer invoices;
ensure accurate revenuerecognition - Monitor unbilled loads and support month‑end revenue accruals
- Process carrier invoices, settlements, and supporting documentation
- Resolve carrier payment discrepancies and maintain AP/AR aging
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile key balance sheet accounts
- Assist with month‑end and year‑end close
- Support internal reporting, KPIs, and variance analysis
- Contribute to cost analysis for lanes, carriers, and customer profitability
- Improve accounting workflows and support TMS/accounting system integrations
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience (logistics/freight preferred)
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting fundamentals
- High accuracy working with large data volumes
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)
- Experience with accounting systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Dynamics GP)
- Familiarity with TMS platforms (McLeod, TMW, Ascend, LoadMaster, etc.)
- Strong understanding of VAT reporting and documentation
- Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
