OverviewWe currently have an opportunity for a talented Solutions Engineer (SE) to join our Italian presales team. The role blends sales and technical expertise, focusing on customer and partner engagement. The SE supports the sales team, provides technical knowledge around F5 solutions, and collaborates closely with the Sales Account Manager to achieve sales targets.ResponsibilitiesUphold F5’s Business Code of Ethics and report violations promptly.Provide complex design and systems engineering configurations.Partner with Solution Architects to assist with Change Request (CR) and Customer Special Request (CSR) cases.Maintain a high level of technical knowledge of F5 products and the relevant industry ecosystem.Use F5 Sales Strategy and Solution Messaging to identify solutions that align with customer business objectives.Develop and support presentations for customers and partners.Clearly articulate technical and business benefits of the F5 value proposition.Stay current on competitive landscape and share insights with relevant teams.Contribute to case studies, white papers, and media articles.Foster a collaborative, team‑based environment, sharing best practices and building lasting relationships.Negotiate and resolve conflicts effectively.Utilize internal SE tools such as Salesforce.com, Vivun, SharePoint, Highspot, and other readiness programs, including AI‑oriented tools.Maintain detailed account profiles, including organizational charts, product usage, strategy, and technology needs.Understand and leverage F5 organizational resources.Provide world‑class customer service during pre‑sales and act as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle.Lead strategic (organizational) opportunities and develop SME focus on one or more technologies (App delivery, App Security, AI, microservices).Deliver customized product presentations using an advanced solution‑based sales approach.Offer consultative support and create customer documentation for POCs.Collaborate with Engineering, Product Development, and Technical Support to solve problems independently and creatively.Channel support: assist F5 channel partner sales initiatives, provide sustainable training, and oversee partner technical expertise.Post‑sales: follow escalation process and partner with Technical Support to resolve issues.Document all activities and maintain detailed records in internal systems.QualificationsSignificant pre‑sales / Systems Engineering experience.Multiple years of experience in Public Clouds, Application Security, Application Delivery, Network Infrastructure, DevOps, SaaS, IaaS, or PaaS environments.Knowledge of AI Apps and AI environments and infrastructure (plus).Linux OS system knowledge, scripting, and administration skills.Programming/DevOps experience (plus).AI Apps Development experience (plus).Strong presentation, communication, and account management skills.F5 core product experience or relevant competitor knowledge preferred.In‑depth industry knowledge of Application Delivery and Security solutions preferred.Excellent written and oral communication; first‑class presentation skills.Fluent English and native Italian speaker.Benefits & CompensationCompetitive pay with family‑friendly benefits.Annual on‑target earnings (OTE) range: EUR 112000–EUR 168000; base salary plus a 80/20 split commission plan.Home office in Rome with required travel.Self‑driven role offering career growth and development at all stages.Position reports to the Manager of Solutions Engineering team based in Milano.Hybrid work model: employees within 30 miles of an F5 office must work from the office at least 30 business days per quarter; remote work primarily from home with occasional office or offsite travel.EEO StatementF5 is an equal‑opportunity employer and welcomes diversity in the workplace.
