As part of AWS Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS), we are seeking AWS Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) for Container Services. SSAs are technologists with deep domain‑specific expertise, able to address advanced concepts and feature designs. You will provide technical expertise to help grow the adoption of a portfolio of services that includes Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, Amazon Elastic Container Registry, and AWS App Mesh. You will also help shape the future of the container industry, working with customers who have complex challenges that require expert‑level knowledge to solve.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Help U.S. Federal Civilian Government organizations implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems.
- Own the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects.
- Define implementation architectures, respond to RFPs, and develop deep expertise in AWS technologies and how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform.
- Represent the voice of the customer; bring customer feedback to product teams to influence feature development and future product road‑map.
- Provide advanced technical knowledge to domain‑aligned GTM teams to unblock our customers’ largest and most critical business challenges.
- Act as a thought leader, sharing best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures, and public‑speaking events such as AWS Summit, AWS re:Invent, etc.
- Develop and support an AWS internal community of technical subject‑matter experts worldwide. Create field enablement materials for the broader SA population to help them understand how to integrate Amazon Web Services solutions into customer architectures.
A Day in the Life
The Solutions Architects on our team provide exceptional technical design and thought leadership to the Federal Government. They lead efforts to capture and share best‑practice knowledge among the AWS solution architect community. Typical activities include meeting with customers, collaborating with AWS technical product managers, working with others to build and test demonstrations and proofs of concept, and writing technical content such as blog posts and papers.
About the Team
The U.S. Federal Specialist Solutions Architecture Team consists of Security, Networking, Hybrid Edge, GEN AI, Containers, and GovCloud Specialist Solutions Architects located across the U.S. The team is vertically aligned and supports the U.S. Federal customer base consisting of some of the largest, most complex AWS customers. The team operates on key tenets including being domain experts who provide thought leadership with deep AWS expertise, taking ownership of specialist engagements, maintaining contextual knowledge, scaling through reusable assets, gathering customer feedback, and maintaining alignment with the broader AWS community.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications and infrastructures.
- 5+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting experience in the software or Internet industries.
- 4+ years of specific technology domain experience (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within software development or Internet‑related industries.
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
- Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective.
- Intermediate/advanced knowledge of AWS services.
- 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience.
- 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and managing Kubernetes environments at scale.
- Proven experience architecting containerized applications and microservices architectures.
- Strong background in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline implementation using Kubernetes.
- Experience managing multiple Kubernetes clusters.
- Demonstrated expertise in Kubernetes security, networking, and storage concepts.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Helm) for Kubernetes deployments.
- Experience troubleshooting complex distributed systems and container‑based applications.
- Experience within the Federal Government.
- Understanding of infrastructure and security requirements, such as FedRAMP Moderate/High, HIPAA, DoD SRG, CJIS.
- Current, active U.S. Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.
Benefits and Salary
The base salary range for this position is listed below. For salaried roles, your Amazon package will include listed sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Colorado: $131,300 - $177,600 annually
National: $118,200 - $204,300 annually
