Software Engineering Manager, Grocery Field AI - Data

Amazon Worldwide Grocery Tech is seeking a dynamic and innovative Software Development Manager (SDM) to lead our AI Data Annotation Tooling team. This critical role is instrumental in developing and operating modern data annotation tools that enable our AI teams to produce high-quality training data for model development, particularly in computer vision-based solutions for grocery applications.

As the SDM for AI Data Annotation Tooling, you are a key member of our tech leadership, driving the development of robust, scalable, and user-friendly data annotation platforms that integrate seamlessly with our AI service development pipeline. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our AI model training processes, ultimately contributing to revolutionary advancements in online grocery shopping and in-store experiences.

We are looking for a leader with strong technical expertise, excellent project management skills, and a passion for creating tools that empower AI development teams and annotators alike.

A day in the life

  • Collaborate with the team and stakeholders to drive business decisions.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions to drive service optimization, cost management, and security.
  • Apply software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all team deliverables.
  • Operate in an agile, startup-like development environment, prioritizing the most important work.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • 4+ years of experience as a software development manager, managing teams of more than 5 software engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of building production software experience.
  • Experience leading agile development teams and sprint planning.
