The Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) is an established, world-class scientific research and experimentation facility that organizes and conducts scientific research and technology development centred on the maritime domain. It delivers innovative and field‑tested science and technology (S&T) solutions to address defence and security needs of the Alliance.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable, distributed systems using modern cloud‑native technologies and employing modern architectural patterns, such as micro‑services.
- Mentor development teams on software design principles, including object‑oriented patterns, SOLID principles, and architectural best practices.
- Establish and enforce quality standards through secure coding practices, test‑driven development, and continuous integration/delivery pipelines.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified university in an information systems, physics or electronics related scientific or engineering discipline, or other relevant scientific discipline, and 2 years post‑related experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of proven track record designing and delivering complex, resilient, and secure software systems using modern development practices, distributed architectures, and contemporary cloud platforms with DevSecOps methodologies.
- Professional experience documenting and communicating architectural decisions using industry‑standard frameworks and practices (e.g. C4 models, ADR, UML, etc.).
- Strong background in mentoring technical teams and establishing excellence in engineering standards across development organisations.
- Professional experience working within agile frameworks while maintaining architectural governance and guiding teams through iterative delivery.
- Strong foundation in modern technology stacks, cloud platforms, security principles, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Very good level of spoken and written English.
