Descrizione dell'offerta

Exide Technologies is a leading provider of advanced energy storage solutions for the automotive and industrial markets. It designs, manufactures and markets current and next-generation battery technologies used in a wide range of applications, and serves global markets with world-class battery technologies, technical expertise and value-added services under many well-known brands.

Exide is looking for a Sodium Ion Cell Engineer. He/she has to contribute to the development and evaluation of Sodium-Ion cell technologies by performing defined technical tasks, supporting laboratory testing, and maintaining accurate documentation. In this role, the engineer assists in analyzing cell performance, reviewing technical data, and collaborating with suppliers and internal teams. As an entry-level position, it aims to build solid technical foundations while supporting the advancement of next‑generation low‑voltage battery solutions for automotive applications.

Main tasks:

  • Support the technical interface with Sodium‑Ion cell suppliers by reviewing design information, material selections and basic manufacturing constraints.
  • Assist in evaluating cell performance parameters (capacity, cycle life, impedance, safety indicators) and contribute to proposing incremental improvements.
  • Execute laboratory testing activities at cell level—capacity tests, rate capability, cycling, impedance, and basic abuse tests—and support test data interpretation.
  • Participate in early‑stage failure analysis activities, helping identify causes of performance deviations such as impedance growth or capacity fade.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including test reports, specifications and elements of DVP&R or DFMEA, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with system/BMS engineering, purchasing and program management by providing technical support throughout the product development stages.
  • Manage assigned day‑to‑day responsibilities, maintain systems and reporting tools, and escalate issues when needed.

Requirements:

  • 2 or more years of experience in Li‑Ion or Sodium‑Ion cell R&D, testing or cell design; experience with cell suppliers is a plus. Specific experience on Sodium-Ion cells chemistry is a plus.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrochemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of battery chemistry fundamentals and hands‑on experience with cell testing equipment (rectifiers, EIS, environmental chambers).
  • Familiarity with safety standards (UN38.3, IEC, automotive) and with EHS procedures for Li‑Ion / Na‑Ion cell handling.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; preferred knowledge of test bench programming or modelling/simulation tools.
  • English proficiency at C1 level (written and spoken).
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, willingness to learn, and effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
  • collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Exide offers the opportunity to join a multinational organization, with an attractive compensation package, company meal services, hybrid working options, and the chance to grow professionally through exposure to cross‑country projects and an advanced R&D environment.
