As a Smallworld GIS Engineer, you will:
As a Smallworld GIS Engineer, you will:
- Support and maintain the Smallworld GIS suite, including PNI, Core SW4/SW5, EO, GSA, DM, NRM, and other network management modules.
- Perform system installations, configurations, upgrades, and patch management of Smallworld and related third-party tools such as ONA and Data Center Management.
- Customize solutions using Magik and Java, tailored to customer-specific environments including Citrix deployments.
- Troubleshoot production issues, interpret logs, debug files, and resolve system-level or application-level problems efficiently.
- Manage the integration of Smallworld with external systems, using SQL, shell scripting, and source control systems.
- Contribute to the development lifecycle by implementing best practices in software development, configuration management, and documentation.
- 5+ years of experience working with Smallworld PNI, EO, Core SW4/SW5, and associated modules (e.g., GSA, DM, MES, NRM, K8).
- Strong hands-on skills with Magik, Java, VMDS, and Oracle database environments.
- Proficiency in SQL and shell scripting for diagnostics and automation tasks.
- Experience with the full installation and configuration lifecycle of Smallworld products and their dependencies.
- Familiarity with system administration tasks and object-oriented programming principles.
- Proven experience working on live systems, including the deployment of fixes and updates in production environments.
- Read and analyze system logs and debug files for root cause identification.
- Install OS patches, configure third-party software, and manage Citrix-integrated environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Utilize tools like MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for documentation and reporting.
- Maintain a structured, reliable, and analytical approach to problem-solving and system support.
