Key job responsibilities:

• Managing an environment concerning the delivery of Amazon orders directly to our customers, subject to ever rising volume and complexity, operating on a 24/7 basis
• Managing day-to-day relationships with multiple Delivery Service Providers (DSPs)
• Driving operational goals and metrics for the Delivery Station, communicating the vision to the team
• Presenting operational metrics regularly to the senior leadership team
• Problem‑solving for closing gaps between performance and goals
• Hiring and developing top talent; creating and implementing a talent plan for the site including acquisition, performance and career management, learning and development, succession planning, and employee engagement
• Working with key business partners such as Transport & Sortation, DSP Management, Finance, Loss Prevention, IT, HR, ACES and Engineering

A day in the life

The Ops Manager leads an operation for 6,000 packages, manages on‑the‑road execution with DSPs and drivers on route, and develops strategies to streamline these operations. They lead a team of 7 managers and more than 100 associates, owning the solving of complex problems and making key decisions and escalations on behalf of the team. They foster a culture of safety, protect service levels, monitor and improve driver and associate performance, assemble the right team, assign the tracking strategy, and control the operation to ensure timely and successful last‑mile delivery.

About the team

Responsible for setting goals in an area where the strategy may not yet be defined, the team establishes workflows, SLAs, and operational excellence mechanisms at the site. They set the standard for effective Delivery Station management, possess deep operational knowledge, understand business priorities and customer needs, and translate those needs into effective solutions. They bring an operations perspective to decision making with strong business acumen, partner with finance for cost–benefit analyses, and possess broad experience across functional and technical areas, designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining large‑scale operations.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
• 2+ years of employee and performance management experience
• Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
• Fluent Tamil and English
• 5+ years of employee and performance management experience
• 5+ years of operational experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques experience
• 6+ years People Manager Experience
• 6+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience
• Master Degree
• Lean/Six Sigma Certification
