Service Engineer, Mechatronic

Preferred Location

Trieste (Italy) is the preferred location, with Genova (Italy) and Fareham (UK) negotiable. Remote work is possible when not onsite or in the field.

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning, overhauls, troubleshooting, on‑site repairs, audits/analysis, upgrades and retrofits.
• Work across marine and land‑based sites with Wärtsilä’s newest engines and equipment.
• Diagnose complex issues and implement sustainable, customer‑centric solutions.
• Document work, share learnings, and contribute to continuous improvement and best practices.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or comparable field experience.
• Solid English skills (spoken and written) to collaborate with customers and colleagues.
• Strong technical problem‑solving and a hands‑on, flexible approach.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to fast‑changing environments.
• Readiness to travel about 200–230 days per year, including abroad.

Nice to Have

• Mechatronics or Electrical & Automation competence.
• Previous field/onboard vessel experience.
