ABOUT THE ROLE – Commissioning Engineer (Superyacht)

We are looking for a Commissioning Engineer with +10 years of experience to support the final phases of construction of a +80m motor yacht new build , overseeing activities during final installation, commissioning, dock trials and sea trials .

The role will act as the dedicated onsite technical representative during the final delivery phase, ensuring that all onboard systems are installed, tested and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, class and flag requirements, approved drawings, OEM recommendations and shipyard standards .

The position requires a strong onboard presence, structured follow-up of deficiencies, and clear technical reporting on system readiness, progress, risks and trial outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and verify the installation, commissioning and functional readiness of onboard systems .
  • Ensure that systems are installed and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, classification rules and shipbuilding standards .
  • Coordinate daily with shipyard teams, subcontractors, OEMs, classification society representatives and yacht crew .
  • Monitor system completion, identify deficiencies and manage punch list follow-up activities .
  • Attend and supervise dock trials and sea trials , verifying system performance and readiness.
  • Perform inspections and support testing and validation procedures prior to final delivery.
  • Provide structured technical reporting on system status, risks, trial outcomes and project progress.
  • Support the final phases of inspection, testing and handover of the vessel.

  • Exhaust systems and emissions-related equipment
  • Stabilizer systems
  • Bilge and pumping systems
  • Fresh water production, storage and distribution systems
  • Grey water, black water and sewage treatment systems
  • Fuel oil, lube oil and hydraulic systems
  • Seawater cooling, freshwater cooling and ventilation systems
  • Fire detection, fire suppression and firefighting systems
  • Engine room ventilation and dampers
  • HVAC and chilled water systems
  • Electrical generation, shore power, switchboards and distribution systems
  • UPS systems, battery systems and emergency power
  • Integrated alarm and monitoring systems
  • Shell doors, passerelles, cranes and other hydraulic or electro-hydraulic systems
  • Safety systems, emergency systems and essential control interfaces


Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Marine, Mechanical or Electrical Engineer , or equivalent technical background.
  • 10+ years of experience in yacht construction, refit, commissioning or marine systems supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of marine mechanical, electrical and auxiliary systems .
  • Proven experience attending dock trials and sea trials .
  • Ability to work onsite in a shipyard environment and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong technical reporting skills and detail-oriented approach.
  • Very good level of English communication (spoken and written) .
  • Italian is considered a plus.
