Joining AXA XL as an experienced Underwriter provides an opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, offering innovative and bespoke underwriting services. Each risk is unique, ensuring clients and brokers experience a best-in-class, market-leading service.

In this role, you will be responsible for writing new and renewal business for an allocated client portfolio, collaborating with brokers and clients to support profitable growth in line with the Business Plan, and developing strong relationships with all stakeholders.

This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime.

What you’ll be DOING

Key responsibilities include:

• Reviewing submissions such as applications, policy wordings, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports, conducting research to assess risk.
• Calculating appropriate risk premiums considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, and administrative costs to ensure profitability.
• Advising and servicing clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction.
• Managing relationships to identify cross-selling opportunities and ensure account retention.
• Ensuring timely implementation of accounts according to quality standards.
• Supporting business planning, monitoring financial exposure, and ensuring premium income remains within limits.
• Maintaining awareness of claims advised and supporting claim settlement processes.

You will report to the Underwriting Manager Property, Energy & Construction, Italy.

What you will BRING

We’re looking for someone with:

• Experience in underwriting Property insurance
• Strong industry knowledge and awareness of market factors
• Fluency in English and Italian
• Stakeholder management skills, understanding needs and concerns
• Negotiation and selling skills, adaptable to customer situations
• Analytical thinking and data-driven decision-making
• Teamwork skills across different seniority levels
• Creativity and practical thinking for new ideas
• Interest in new trends and business transformation
