Senior Structural Engineer - Infrastructure

Specialista Senior / Project Manager As a Senior Structural Engineer at Arup in Milan, you lead complex infrastructure design packages and take technical ownership across stages from concept to construction. You work within our Civil Structures team to deliver sustainable, resilient solutions for rail, metro, and other transportation projects, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and clients. You drive digital delivery through BIM and modelling while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring quality and constructability. You will engage with international teams and codes, leveraging your expertise to– Professional Growth & Development Financial Well-being & Ownership Lead and deliver structural design packages for complex infrastructure projects, owning the allocated scope including underground structures, shafts, stations, and platforms, in collaboration with project managers and technical leads. Perform advanced structural and numerical analyses, producing calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports across all design stages, considering dynamic loads, seismic actions, wind, and other infrastructure‑specific requirements. Develop integrated engineering solutions with clients and multidisciplinary teams ensuring constructability, safety, maintainability, and operational performance. Drive digital delivery by applying BIM workflows, coordinating structural models with other disciplines and contributing to digital engineering capability. Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a collaborative, high‑performing design environment. Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent; typically 6+ years in structural design on medium to large‑scale infrastructure projects including underground structures. Proficiency in structural modelling and analysis software such as Sofistik, GSA, MIDAS; working knowledge of BIM tools and digital engineering workflows. Experience applying local and international design codes: NTC2018, Eurocode, AASHTO, and seismic design codes. Effective workload management, ability to deliver to programme and quality expectations, and strong collaboration in multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication in Italian and English, ability to present technical work to clients and project teams.
