We’re looking for n8n’s first UX Researcher
A strategic partner for teams across the company who's excited to build our research practice while tackling the big questions that shape our product’s future.
Your main goal will be to establish n8n's research function and lead strategic work , turning user understanding into a core driver of decisions across the company.
To do so, you will build scalable recruitment systems, conduct high-impact research, spread research insights across the organization, and help teams do better research through education and hands-on support. You'll balance thoroughness with speed, applying pragmatic, phased approaches.
Responsibilities
RESEARCH OPERATIONS & INFRASTRUCTURE
- You'll build the infrastructure that powers our research practice: automated recruitment systems, a unified participant pool, and a searchable & actionable insights repository that serves teams across the company.
- You'll consolidate fragmented user data into a single source of truth, enabling targeted recruitment across segments and tracking participation history.
- You'll ensure we do this responsibly, implementing GDPR-compliant processes for consent, privacy, and data deletion.
STRATEGIC RESEARCH
- You'll define and own the research roadmap in collaboration with product and design leads; from foundational work (personas, JTBD, mindset models) to generative discovery and validation studies that build confidence in product direction.
- By triangulating insights from user research, product analytics, market signals, and support, you'll surface patterns and turn them into prioritized actionable recommendations that guide product direction.
RESEARCH MENTORSHIP AND EVANGELIZATION
- You'll shape how n8n does research: building templates, playbooks, and methodologies that enable teams to move fast and move smart.
- You'll mentor cross-functional teams to run their own studies, evangelize research across the company, and champion the voice of the user in every decision.
AI & AUTOMATION
- You'll use AI and n8n as tools to amplify research impact, while keeping human understanding and ethical practices at the core.
- You'll bring genuine curiosity about workflow automation, developing product proficiency over time to deeply understand our technical users.
Requirements
Must-haves
- ⚡ n8n power user: You are confident in using n8n and leverage it in your daily workflow as a core tool.
- Research expertise: 5-7 years in UX research with strong mixed-methods skills, ideally in B2B or technical environments. Experience with foundational research like personas, jobs-to-be-done, and segmentation. Curious about complex systems and technical workflows. Comfortable working independently and partnering with data teams.
- ️ ResearchOps builder: Experience building research infrastructure: recruitment, participant databases, community management, and tooling.
- Strategic mindset: Scope needs, build roadmaps, connect research to business outcomes. Experience working with OKRs and prioritization frameworks.
