Job Overview
AWS Canada drives adoption of the AWS cloud across Independent Software Vendors (ISV) customers, enabling organizations to innovate and transform their business. We are seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to serve as a credible technical leader and strategic advisor, helping customers architect solutions to complex business and technology challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect extensible, reusable, and operationally excellent cloud solutions to complex migration, modernization, and innovation challenges
- Build and own strategic relationships with senior customer leaders across business areas, understanding their industry context and business objectives to influence long‑term technology strategy and proactively identify opportunities that support business outcomes
- Provide technical leadership across internal and cross‑functional teams to deliver solutions, building consensus on technical approaches and negotiating architectural trade‑offs to drive measurable business impact
- Develop and deliver technical content such as workshops, prototypes, and presentations and speak at events to help customers evaluate and adopt new technologies
- Advocate for customers by identifying product gaps and feature requests, and work with AWS service teams to help them understand customer needs
A Day in the Life
Your day as a Senior Solutions Architect blends strategic customer engagement, technical leadership, and organizational impact. You'll meet with senior customer stakeholders to understand their business strategy and influence their technology direction, architect solutions to complex, multi‑faceted challenges, and build prototypes and reusable architectures that other Solutions Architects can leverage. You lead cross‑team collaboration to deliver customer outcomes, create thought leadership content that educates the broader community, and mentor teammates on solving challenging problems. Throughout the day, you balance deep technical work with strategic influence, helping customers and your organization navigate ambiguity and make the right long‑term trade‑offs with confidence.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructure experience
- Deep technical expertise across multiple domains (cloud architecture, data & analytics, AI/ML, software development, security, networking) with ability to make informed trade‑off decisions between extensibility, scalability, maintainability, and business value.
- Familiarity with modern architectural patterns such as microservices, serverless, and event‑driven systems, with ability to adapt and extend these patterns for customer‑specific needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Extensive hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), including designing, building, and deploying complex production workloads at scale.
- Proven track record of creating reusable technical assets (reference architectures, frameworks, code samples, automation tools) that other teams have successfully adopted.
- Experience designing and implementing complex AI/ML solutions, including generative AI, agentic applications, MLOps patterns, and RAG architectures.
- Experience with scripting, automation, and software development in multiple languages (Python, JavaScript, Java, etc.)
Salary & Benefits
The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
