AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We keep the cloud running and support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to the innovations customers rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. The AWS Hardware Engineering team creates server designs for Amazon’s web services. Our designs are industry-leading in frugality and operational excellence and are critical to the AWS business and to millions of customers who use AWS today. Our engineers solve challenging technology problems and build architecturally sound, high-quality components to enable AWS to realize critical business strategies.
The ideal candidate is an innovative self-starter. You will be a software expert with deep knowledge in server firmware, gain a strong understanding of our server firmware stack, and analyze it in its current and future context. You will use comprehensive knowledge of the system to find the best solutions to multi-factor problems. You will work with engineers across the company as well as external partners and lead development efforts. You will collaborate with internal and external development engineers (architecture, hardware, validation, software services) and help shape the future of cloud computing technology.

- You will be a member of a team designing AWS-specific hardware and software.
- You will be part of the development effort from conception through production.
- You will explore emerging technologies and their impact on AWS.
- You will work closely with AWS engineering teams to tailor devices for the AWS environment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across US markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year to $261,500/year, depending on location and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company, with potential equity, sign-on, and other benefits as part of the compensation package. For more information, visit
