Senior QA Engineer

What is Accountable? Accountable is a young fintech/taxtech focused on helping the self-employed automate their accounting and taxes with a simple mobile and web app. We are 80+ people spread across offices in Berlin and Brussels, as well as remote locations throughout Europe. We aim to create a product that is incredibly easy and fun to use, requiring no knowledge of tax or accounting. We're growing at a rate of more than 150% per year, and our ambition is to become the European leader in our market. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
WHAT YOU'LL DO
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ → Review specs before development starts — flag compliance edge cases, untestable acceptance criteria, and cross-squad risks before a line of code is written → Own the cross-squad integration test suite — the flows that span multiple squads (Expenses → Tax encoding → VAT return) that no single engineer would naturally own → Build and maintain E2E tests for our critical user journeys on web (Playwright) and mobile (Maestro): invoice creation, VAT return submission (BE & DE), bank connection, OTC payments, plan upgrades → Review Tier 1 PRs for test coverage — not to re-test manually, but to validate the tests themselves before merge → Test AI features: OCR accuracy, our AI Tax Advisor (AITA) chatbot behaviour, and ML categorisation confidence thresholds — using accuracy benchmarks, prompt regression suites, and LLM-as-judge evaluation → Coach engineers to own unit and component tests as part of the definition of done — quality shifts to the whole team, not just QA ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
✅ WHAT WE NEED
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • 3–6 years QA experience in a SaaS or fintech product company
• Strong test automation — Playwright, Cypress, Maestro, Appium or equivalent. You write tests, you don't just run them.
• Cross-platform testing: web, iOS, and Android
• API-level testing with Supertest, Postman, or similar
• Able to work independently across multiple squads without constant direction
• Correctness mindset: you understand why a VAT miscalculation is a compliance issue, not just a data bug ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • Experience testing AI/ML features: OCR pipelines, LLM chatbot behaviour (hallucination, multi-turn context, tool invocation), confidence thresholds
• Uses AI to improve QA: LLM-generated test cases, LLM-as-judge evaluation patterns
• Feature flag testing and gradual rollout validation
