For the Central Team of Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C), we are looking for Senior Property Underwriter to join our Property, Engineering and Construction team. The person will report directly to the GC&C Global Head of Property, Engineering and Construction, and will primarily support the GC&C’s largest line of business—Property—by fostering and strengthening underwriting excellence, strategic transformation and providing guidance to local Property Underwriters on the most complex and largest deals. The portfolio spans all regions, requiring a truly global view of market dynamics, risk profiles, and underwriting practices. This role is pivotal to executing GC&C’s strategy and delivering on its ambition to become a key profit contributor to the Group.
Main responsibilities:
Strategic Execution & Transformation
- Supporting GC&C Global Head of Property, Engineering and Construction in translating GC&C’s strategic priorities—technical excellence, client-centric growth, and product/geographic diversification—into actionable plans for Property.
- Help GC&C Regions in executing the Portfolio Strategy Statement (PSS) for Property, ensuring alignment with the KPI, including the normalized loss ratios and profitability targets, making sure decision making on single deals is contributing to such alignment.
- Participating in transversal initiatives that support GC&C’s business transformation, including digital capability upgrades.
Technical Excellence & Governance
- Ensure, especially when in the role of referral underwriter, best-in‑class underwriting practices through rigorous governance, technical reviews, and adoption of best-in‑class global tools, including pricing tools, policy wordings, and risk appetite frameworks.
- Cooperate with GC&C Global Head of Property, Engineering and Construction in the issuance and maintenance of GC&C Property Requirements and Principles.
- Support automation and data quality initiatives.
- Interact and collaborate with other functions like Central Team RELP, Technical Excellence Team (e.g. contributing in maintaining and developing the property pricing tool), Group Reinsurance, Group Chief Insurance Officer department, etc.
Strategic Balance of Technical Expertise and Business Acumen
- Collaborate in refining pricing strategy, capacity deployment, and portfolio optimization to maximize profitability and client value.
- Promote the expansion of GC&C’s multinational and captive segments and concur in developing tailored solutions for complex industrial risks.
Teamwork & Culture Sharing
- Contribute enhancing technical acumen of a high‑performing international team of underwriters and technical experts facilitating spread of knowledge and sharing of best practices.
- Promote a “Next Level” mindset in the interaction with local/regional property underwriting teams, promoting innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
- Promote cross‑functional collaboration.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- At least 10 years in Property underwriting within a multinational insurance or reinsurance environment. Experience in Engineering Lines (CAR/EAR/MB, etc) is a plus to be able to support the team on the Engineering & Construction Line of Business when/if needed.
- Proven experience in diverse, international teams and strategic transformation programs.
- Deep technical expertise in industrial property risks, multinational programs, CAT modelling, pools, pricing and reinsurance (both treaty and facultative).
- Solid experience in client engagement, product development, and portfolio management logics.
- Familiarity with ESG frameworks, underwriting tools, and digital transformation initiatives.
- A solid understanding of how artificial intelligence can enhance underwriting, portfolio steering, pricing discipline and operational efficiency is increasingly essential, as AI‑driven tools will progressively shape decision‑making and technical excellence across the Property portfolio.
