Senior Project Manager

Role Overview

Senior Project Manager – JRC Ispra site (Northern Italy). Responsible for managing assigned project scopes and Specific Contracts (SCs) under the Framework Contract, providing project and programme management support to the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) as part of the nuclear decommissioning programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the project management interface with the client (JRC), including planning and scheduling of activities, monitoring deliverables, supporting formal acceptance processes, tracking progress against scope, budget and timelines, and supporting invoicing based on accepted deliverables.
• Contribute to delivery of project and programme management services to JRC: planning, coordination and control of decommissioning programme activities; alignment with JRC processes, governance and reporting requirements.
• Support the Core Team Leader (CTL) in overall coordination of framework activities, including alignment across specific contracts, consolidation of reporting and deliverables, and support to contract‑level management processes.
• Develop and maintain project documentation in line with client requirements, including project management plans, progress reports and dashboards, lifecycle and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate interfaces across technical disciplines, working with JRC stakeholders and delivery teams (licensing, waste management, engineering and decommissioning activities).
• Support programme governance and client reporting: KPI tracking and reporting, risk identification and management, and contribution to structured reporting to JRC.
• Operate within a multi‑stakeholder environment, supporting coordination between JRC (client), JV partners, subcontractors and technical specialists.

What You’ll Need

• Professional experience in project or programme management.
• Demonstrable experience across the full project management lifecycle, including planning, cost, schedule, risk and stakeholder management.
• Experience in the nuclear sector, preferably in decommissioning, waste management, or related regulated environments.
• Experience operating in a client‑facing or advisory/project support role, supporting delivery within complex programmes.
• Relevant degree (Master’s level or equivalent) in engineering, project management or related discipline.
• Ability to work full‑time on‑site in Ispra, Lombardy (Italy).
• English language proficiency (minimum B2 level).
