Senior Project Engineer - Solar & BESS

Taylor Hopkinson is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer in Milan.
This role will be pivotal in ensuring the technical excellence and successful execution of utility-scale solar PV projects, from late-stage development through to commercial operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership across post-permitting, construction, and commissioning phases of solar PV projects, supporting development, financing, and operational handover.
Perform site assessments, feasibility analyses, layout optimisation, and risk evaluations to guide project execution and identify potential challenges with proactive mitigation strategies.
Lead or support technical activities during pre-construction planning, including constructability reviews and site inspections.
Assist procurement and EPC processes through preparation of technical specifications, scope of work documents, bid evaluation, contract negotiation, and equipment recommendations.
Review and validate detailed engineering designs to ensure compliance with project requirements, permitting conditions, and applicable grid codes; identify gaps between permitting documentation and construction designs.
Collaborate with project directors and construction teams to develop detailed work plans, schedules, and quality assurance procedures for PV components and system installation.
Support HSE compliance by integrating best-practice safety standards into design and construction phases.
Engage with stakeholders as required, including utilities, grid operators, and regulatory authorities.
Apply engineering expertise to hybrid PV + BESS projects, ensuring smooth integration and optimised performance where relevant.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related technical field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in utility-scale PV projects.
Demonstrated experience in preparing technical specifications, reviewing executive designs, and supporting EPC processes.
Fluency in English and Italian.
