Senior Process Engineer

On behalf of an international engineering and consulting firm, PeoItaly is currently collecting expressions of interest for a Senior Process Engineer role to support ongoing and future projects within the pharmaceutical, nutritional, and medical device sectors.

This role is designed for a seasoned process engineering professional who can lead multidisciplinary project teams, deliver high-quality process designs, and contribute to innovative and sustainable engineering solutions across complex, mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the process design team throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to project timelines and technical standards.
• Develop user requirements and design criteria in collaboration with clients.
• Perform process calculations, simulations, equipment sizing, and prepare process documentation (e.g. PFDs, P&IDs, data sheets, functional descriptions).
• Contribute to technical evaluations and vendor alignment activities during procurement and cost estimation phases.
• Follow up on process equipment vendors and provide engineering support during construction and commissioning.
• Actively participate in project workshops (e.g. P&ID reviews, HAZID, HAZOP).
• Promote and apply sustainable design principles.
• Deliver internal training sessions and mentor junior engineers within the team.

Ideal Profile

• Master's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in process system design, particularly within the pharmaceutical, nutrition, or medical device sectors.
• Strong knowledge of cGMP standards and ISPE Baselines.
• Proficiency in process simulation and design tools such as SuperPro, SchedulePro, PipeFlo, FlexSim, and MS Office.
• Fluency in English and Italian (native-level or fluent).
• Availability for short/medium-term travel across Italy and Europe.
• Fluency in German is considered a strong plus.
• Team leadership, technical mentoring, and cross-functional coordination skills.
