Bracco is an international Group active in the healthcare sector and a leader in diagnostic imaging. The Group’s main products are contrast agents sold in over 100 countries, both directly and indirectly through branches, joint ventures and license and distribution agreements.

The senior Patent Attorne y will manage the patent portfolio in alignment with Bracco’s business objectives, collaborating with GR&D, Legal, Business, and IP colleagues both at headquarters and in affiliated companies.

Main Responsibilities and Activities

  • Support R&D, Technical Operations, and Commercial activities for the assigned business area, including participation in regular meetings and conducting patent surveys.
  • Conduct patent searches (landscape, patentability, freedom to operate).
  • Perform patentability analyses and evaluate patent opportunities.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications worldwide up to grant, either directly or by instructing foreign external associates; manage post-grant proceedings (e.g., EP oppositions).
  • Conduct freedom to operate analyses and validity studies.
  • Monitor third-party patents and support strategic decisions/actions, including managing oppositions against third party patents.
  • Support the Legal Department in drafting/reviewing IP-related clauses in agreements (e.g., MTA, research, collaboration, license), either through prior experience or willingness to develop expertise in this area.
  • Participate in due diligence activities for business opportunities

Education

  • Master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutics, or a related field.

Professional Experience, Knowledge & Technical Skills

  • At least five years of experience as a patent attorney, preferably in the pharmaceutical field.
  • Qualified European Patent Attorney.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language.
  • Good knowledge of public and commercial patent search databases.
