A globally recognized technology innovator is expanding its advanced research presence in Milan and is seeking visionary Senior and Principal OS Engineers to shape the future of mobility.
This is a rare opportunity to architect the core operating system powering next-generation vehicles—bringing together Smart Cockpit, Autonomous Driving, and Vehicle Control into a unified, high-performance platform.
Based at a cutting-edge R&D center in Milan, you will design and optimize the “brain” of tomorrow’s vehicles, pushing the boundaries of OS architecture across modern Automotive SoCs.
Your Impact
Reliability Architecture.
- Design robust, fault-tolerant OS frameworks ensuring mission-critical stability across cockpit and vehicle control domains.
End-to-End Cockpit Strategy
- Lead OS evolution from kernel to framework, delivering a seamless and resilient smart cockpit experience.
Multi-Domain Convergence
- Architect virtualization and secure isolation layers enabling safe and efficient coexistence of autonomous driving and cockpit systems.
SoC & Kernel Optimization
- Maximize performance across CPU, GPU, NPU, and memory through advanced heterogeneous scheduling.
AI-Centric OS Foundations
- Build system-level capabilities that enable efficient on-board AI inference and intelligent resource management.
What You Bring
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
- 5–10+ years in OS/kernel development with meaningful contributions to the Linux ecosystem.
Deep expertise in:
- Kernel scheduling & memory management.
- Device drivers & low-level debugging.
- System performance optimization in high-reliability environments.
- Proven leadership in complex system design and architecture.
- Strong record of patents, publications, or equivalent technical impact.
- Fluent English with confidence working in global, cross-cultural teams.
- Maintainer or leadership role in open-source communities (e.g., Linux Foundation).
- Experience with RTOS, embedded systems, or upstream kernel contributions.
- Knowledge of automotive safety standards, virtualization, and domain isolation.
- Exposure to RISC-V or next-generation computing architectures.
- Publications in top-tier systems conferences (e.g., OSDI, ASPLOS, EuroSys).
