The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Optical Application Engineer to join a highly specialised team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in optical simulation , able to combine technical expertise with customer-facing skills and support the adoption of advanced simulation technologies across industrial applications.
With offices in Bergamo, Turin, Florence, and Lecce , plus a hybrid model with 3 days of remote working per week and flexible hours , this opportunity is also well suited to candidates who may live further from one of the office locations.
Key responsibilities
- Promote and support the adoption of advanced simulation solutions , with a particular focus on optical simulation technologies .
- Provide technical expertise during customer meetings and support the sales team in engineering discussions.
- Collaborate closely with sales and marketing teams to support product positioning and distribution strategies.
- Monitor customer software usage, offering continuous support and helping clients strengthen their technical capabilities.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor on complex optical and optoelectronic engineering challenges.
Ideal profile
- Senior-level experience in optical simulation and optical/optoelectronic engineering .
- Strong knowledge of Lumerical .
- Experience with Zemax would be highly preferred.
- Familiarity with other CAE tools would be considered a plus.
- Strong customer focus, with excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach and willingness to share knowledge.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Curious, innovative, and solution-driven mindset.
- Availability to travel mainly within Italy for customer support and client meetings.
- Fluency in English .
