AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We are looking for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to become part of a global data center engineering team, responsible for design and continuous innovation within our rapidly expanding data center footprint. The position can be based out of Seattle, Washington or Herndon, Virginia.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define and design liquid cooling equipment and related infrastructure.
- Collaborate with internal and external ecosystem partners to design and develop new data center product solutions.
- Support field engineering and data center operation teams for performing root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center products.
- Maintain and develop technical design procedures associated with piping and pipe support analysis activities.
- Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers, senior management and partner teams.
- Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts and ideas.
- Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating ownership.
- Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate mechanical and associated sub components.
- Provide product design support to other team members.
- Write functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the year.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
- 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities).
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.

Base salary range: 136,600.00 - 184,800.00 USD annually (Seattle, WA); 136,600.00 - 184,800.00 USD annually (Herndon, VA). Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
