ROLE DETAILS
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly innovative R&D team developing advanced, high-precision machinery used across demanding industrial sectors. The position sits at the intersection of mechanical engineering, optics, electronics, and software contributing directly to the design and prototyping of next-generation systems that require exceptional accuracy and reliability.
The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to turn product concepts into robust, fully functional solutions. The work carried out in this position will directly influence performance, manufacturability, and long-term reliability, offering the chance to make a tangible impact on both the technology and the end-user experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Proposing design approaches that meet product requirements while optimising timelines and development costs, working in synergy with electrical/automation teams and technical documentation throughout each project phase.
- Preparation of complete technical project documentation is expected, including assemblies, detailed drawings, and bills of materials.
- 2D/3D mechanical design activities are carried out using SolidWorks, producing accurate models and detailed drawings for machines and high-precision components.
- Research into new materials, construction methods, and production techniques forms part of the continuous improvement process to enhance product performance.
- Project activities are managed autonomously, covering supplier identification, feasibility studies, and evaluation of technical solutions available on the market.
- To excel in this role you’ll need around 8 years of experience in machine and plant design, ideally gained within structured or high-precision industrial environments.
EXPERIENCE
- Familiarity with FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks.
- Understanding of Machinery Directive and mechanical design standards and norms.
- Background within structured automotive or high-precision industrial environments.
- Experience with robust design methodologies (FMEA, DFA, DFM, VRP).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience defining tolerances, materials, and surface finishes, with strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, assembly).
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Prototyping aptitude and excellent hands-on capability.
- Proficiency in the Office suite.
