Senior Mechanical Designer – R&D

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer to join an established R&D team. The successful candidate will play an important role in developing new products, improving existing designs and supporting projects through to production.

Main Responsibilities

• Design complex mechanical components, assemblies and products.
• Develop detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings.
• Contribute to new product concepts and technical development projects.
• Assess manufacturability and continuously improve design solutions.
• Support industrialisation and work closely with production teams.
• Coordinate projects across engineering, manufacturing and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members.

Required Qualifications

• Engineering degree with at least 2–3 years of relevant experience, or a technical qualification with at least 4–5 years of experience.
• Experience designing complex mechanical products, ideally within aerospace, automotive, transportation or another regulated manufacturing environment.
• Advanced proficiency with a leading 3D CAD package.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, detailed technical drawings and design for manufacture.
• Good problem-solving, communication and project coordination skills.
• Ability to support and mentor less-experienced engineers.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with finite element analysis and PDM systems.
• Good technical English.
• Willingness to undertake occasional international travel.
