The assignment:
We’re seeking a heavy-hitting Senior Interim to run - largely independently - a rapid spend diagnostic for a multi-site Italian dental group (private clinics).
Your mandate: shape a high-credibility savings plan, win clinician/exec confidence, and convert the engagement into an implementation phase.

Typical assignments for EP include working on behalf of the Boards or the private equity investors of the business to conduct opportunity assessment and deliver procurement transformation agenda across the business. We don’t just advise, we make it happen - This includes conducting detailed procurement diagnostics, spend analytics, negotiations, RFPs with the suppliers, and leading process improvement initiatives.
What you’ll lead

Clinical / direct
- Dental implants & prosthetics (incl. lab work / outsourcing)
- Orthodontics (aligners, brackets, wires) & endodontics (files, obturation)
- Restoratives (composites, bonding, impression materials)
- Anaesthetics & pharmaceuticals, disinfectants, infection control/sterilisation (autoclave supplies)
- PPE and clinical disposables
- Imaging & radiology (CBCT/X-ray consumables, sensors, service contracts)
- Equipment (chairs, compressors, suction) — purchase vs lease, maintenance SLAs
Non-clinical / Indirect
- Marketing & patient acquisition services
- Facilities & maintenance, clinical & general waste
- Utilities
Building detailed understanding of levers currently in use :, competition, formulary standardisation/SKU rationalisation, national vs regional consolidation, direct-from-manufacturer vs distributor, framework agreements, e-sourcing, maintenance & uptime SLAs, lease vs buy
Quantify a 12–24-month savings pipeline with a wave plan, risks, and governance
Run SteerCos with CFO/COO/Clinical leadership
Craft the implementation proposal and help close it (success bonus tied to win)
EP has a well-established diagnostic methodology - While you will use your experience and gravitas to lead the overall execution, we will expect you to follow the EP methodology to deliver the diagnostic
What great looks like
- Extensive experience in procurement consulting with proven diagnostics/cost-take-out leadership (multi-site healthcare, dental/medtech, or hospital provider experience strongly preferred)
- Gravitas with both clinicians and executives; able to operate solo with minimal oversight
- Deep familiarity with clinical supply chains and service & maintenance contracts; comfortable challenging distributor models
- Strong Italian market knowledge and fluent Italian; excellent English for decks and exec storytelling
- Familiar with advanced Excel; e-sourcing/RFx; quick contract review; data-light, outcome-heavy mindset
- Bonus: awareness of EU MDR, ISO 13485 environments, and Italian healthcare compliance norms
