We are looking for a Senior HW Design Engineer for our plant in Naples, to join our Engineering department.

Main Activities

  • Issuing plans and standards that will govern hardware developments and ensure airworthiness.
  • Developing and validating the hardware architecture that will meet the input requirements assigned to the software.
  • Development of electrical diagrams that implement the developed architecture, complying with the defined standards and input and derived requirements.
  • Development of verification procedures for the electronic boards developed to ensure that all requirements are met.
  • Drafting of Acceptance Test Procedures for unit testing.
  • Performance of all tests defined by the verification procedures, with implementation of any modifications in the event of failure to pass the tests, and development of all report documentation.
  • Development of all documentation necessary for the qualification and certification of the electronic unit.
  • Support for the definition of the requirements of the testing equipment used for the qualification of the unit.
  • Support for all HW DESIGN QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGEMENT activities. You will be required to manage and/or support the HW Design Quality Assurance (HQA) process in accordance with RTCA/DO254 requirements, and ensure that the HW product output from the design process complies with airworthiness design requirements.
  • Issues and updates process quality assurance plans.
  • Issues and updates certification plans.
  • Issues and updates HW item configuration management plans.
  • Issues and updates HW development plans.
  • Issues and updates HW verification plans.
  • Collaborates in the drafting of HW standards.
  • Performs verification/inspection and witnessing activities on the execution of HW design activities.
  • Performs audits on problem reports and audits required by HW control plans.

Requirements

Hard Skills

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electronics (Electrical Engineering)
  • More than 5 years of experience in the development of electronic hardware for the aeronautical sector in accordance with RTCA DO 254 minimum level DAL B.
  • In‑depth knowledge of electrical, electronic, analog, and digital components
  • In‑depth knowledge of the sizing of components used in electrical diagrams
  • Knowledge of CAE programs for the design of electrical diagrams and PCBs
  • In‑depth knowledge of the internal architectures of microprocessors, microcontrollers, DSPs, and DSCs
  • In‑depth knowledge of programmable logic: PLD, CPLD, FPGA, etc.
  • Knowledge of power electronics
  • Knowledge of electronic control of brushless motors
  • Knowledge and use of sensors for measuring current, voltage, temperature, force, torque, angular position, linear position, etc.
  • Knowledge of issues relating to susceptibility to radiated fields and conductive paths
  • Knowledge of issues relating to conducted and radiated emissions
  • Knowledge of ESD protection
  • Ability to manage design input requirements and follow a development process that ensures they are met.
  • Knowledge of good design standards
  • In‑depth knowledge of Windows, Office suite, and networking fundamentals.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken)
  • Ability to draft technical documents in English
  • Knowledge of programming languages
  • Knowledge of the equipment used to check and test electronic boards: programmable power supply, multimeter, oscilloscope, function generators, pattern generators, logic state analyzers, communication bus analyzers, etc.
  • Experience in hardware development using microcontrollers for real‑time applications.
  • Knowledge and experience of microcontroller peripherals (timers, counters, DIO, serial communication channels, etc.).
  • Knowledge of electronic board protection against indirect lightning phenomena. Conoscenza dei principali protocolli di comunicazione aeronautici (AFDX (ARINC 664), ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553B, CAN bus (ARINC 825), RS-422/RS-485)
  • Knowledge and experience in HW development capable of managing PBIT, CBIT, and IBIT built‑in tests.
  • Knowledge of microprocessor‑based electronic board architectures with single failure immunity requirements and/or remote probability of specific failures occurring.
  • Knowledge and experience in hardware development in accordance with RTCA-DO 254 for safety‑critical applications up to at least DAL B.
  • In‑depth knowledge of DO 254, RTAC DO 160, MIL-STD 810, and MIL-STD 461 standards.
